If I didn’t know better I’d think they added a laugh track to the show. I really don’t want to kick a man when he’s down… and believe me when I say that Leno is down… but this was one lame show. The gags didn’t work. It wasn’t funny. Conan even beat him up in exit strategy! Trump and Kutchner? That’s among the best he could do? Ouch! That’s gotta hurt.

I think Jay’s gonna find that the return to “The Tonight Show” will not be as smooth as he or NBC hopes

The worst Super Bowl party ever? Watch Dave, Oprah and Jay in this super commercial.

I didn’t expect to see this! Leno and Letterman? Together? Promoting Dave’s show? On CBS? Who in Hell thought of this? Who in Hell was able to pull it off? Who in Hell called the ambulances for the NBC execs having coronaries after seeing this? Fan-friggin’-tastic!

Jimmy Kimmel Live – Jimmy Kimmel on His Leno Appearance

Did Jimmy Kimmel “sucker punch” Jay? Hmm… hmm… No! I don’t think so! If everybody and everything is a viable target for Jay, then everybody and everything is a viable target for Jimmy… on Jay’s show. Jay really needs to get off his pity perch. Fast. If he steps back onto “The Tonight Show” with that “pity me” act, he’ll tank fast. Of course, there are millions of us out there who aren’t even going to give him the chance. We’ll be watching Dave on CBS. ;-)

Howard Kurtz talks to media critics about NBC’s fight over late night and why so many are casting blame on Jay Leno

I thought this was an interesting take on the recent late-night debacle at NBC. Not only has Leno’s reputation been damaged, but so has NBC. Comcast should probably consider asking for a partial refund. I think Leno may find he doesn’t quite have as long a list of names to call for guests. There have been more than a few who have made it clear that “The Tonight Show” is no longer on their list of “must do” gigs.

I thought it only appropriate that we hear it from the horse’s mouth. It just seemed right. ;-)

I do like the way Zucker just seems to trip all over himself in trying to explain the truly asinine way he has been able to totally screw everything and everyone. This man exemplifies the word “incompetent.”

Conan’s out, Jay’s back in.

Late night talk show host Conan O’Brien says he will not host ‘The Tonight Show’ at a later time, as is the plan by NBC as it accomodates Jay Leno in a late-night shuffle of shows.

I still don’t think Conan’s very funny, but I do think the guy shows a helluva lot more class, heart and courage than any of the other players in this farce. If I were Leno and the network brass, I’d be feeling rather more than a little ashamed. And, if there is such a thing as justice, would it not be great to see NBC let Leno slither back to his 11:35pm “Tonight Show” gig and then watch it all collapse into a ratings disaster? Fantastic! Justice!

NBC says it’s waiting to hear if Jay Leno and ‘Tonight’ host Conan O’Brian will go for new late night plans after the network confirms its ending Leno’s prime-time show.

And, if I were Conan O’Brien, I’d make the buggers wait as long as I could.

So, let me get this straight in my head – NBC basically guts its schedule to make room for Leno. O’Brien gets the host job of “The Tonight Show.” Leno falls flat on his face. Now NBC wants O’Brien to basically give up his job, a job he waited patiently for as Leno did something like a 5-year goodbye stint, so Leno can slither back to his old 11:35pm slot?

Conan, my advice would be to tell NBC to pony up a couple million bucks to buy out your contract and check to see what other opportunities are out there at ABC, the Comedy Network, whatever. I’d advise against FOX because I don’t think you’re a fascist and eventually they’d want you to start injecting their propaganda into your monologues. Trust me on this. But, no, I wouldn’t budge for the network hacks who dreamed up this foobar or for Mr. Leno who should have been thankful for what he had and who should have checked his ego at the studio entrance.

I wasn’t sure I wanted to post and comment on this. Yep, I’m a Letterman man. So, in many ways, I couldn’t care less. However, after giving it some thought I decided to add my 2 pence.

First, when did Leno first start believing that NBC could not survive without him? Second, when did NBC start believing they couldn’t survive without Leno? Third, when did anyone start believing that Conan O’Brien was really funny? Fourth, why doesn’t NBC do with the whole Leno/O’Brien move what Congress should do with the health care “reform” package they’re preparing to shove down our throats – look at it, agree it was a total screw-up and start all over again. Finally, putting aside the melodrama being created by the Hollywood media circus, who really cares?
