The Old Town from Marvin Podsendek on Vimeo.

Yeah, I got snookered by this one. The Lovecraft link pulled me in and sucker-punched me when I wasn’t lookin’. Gotta admit Marv landed a good punch.

The old Town
A tiny little story about being in the wrong place at the wrong time, loosely based on H.P. Lovecraft’s “A shadow over Innsmouth”.

Have fun and thank you very, very much for watching!
Also, why don’t you stop by and say hello sometime? marvart.de

The whole thing was a university project and done in about 4 months using various software. Everything was drawn, modeled, animated and composited by me.
All sound effects/soundtracks are either done by me, bought from Vimeo or done by the awesome guys over at freesound.org/

Here’s a perspective on the alliance between our ISPs and abusive copyright holders from Cory Doctorow. Read it and think about it. Rather frightening when you do. The extinction of public WiFi hotspots… think about what this would mean… what this could do.

Loris brings us another of his story gems. Yeah, this one will revisit me for a few nights.

Almost Human from Ray Diaz on Vimeo.

Excellent adaptation of an old-time radio classic.

A complete sci fi short story by Robert Bloch, about the creation of a robot who is, in some respects, almost human! From the series “X minus 1″, animated with Moviestorm.

I am not a zombie-film/TV fan. I guess I got that outta my system after “Night of the Living Dead,” “Day of the Living Dead,” “Dawn of the Living Dead,” “The Day After the Day of the Living Dead” and “The Living Dead of Jersey Shore.” However, this looks good… very good. The fact that it is intended as a web series means you should fewer pin-striped idiots, a.k.a. assholes with M.B.A.’s, interfering at the artistic end.

I have to admit that this type of story has never been my cup of tea. Odd, I can’t say why. However, that does not mean I cannot appreciate the good script, sound design, camera work and post-production effects of another well-done KV Pictures film. No, I didn’t see that ending coming, either. Maybe that’s why… ;-)

When Andrew is hired to disprove hauntings on the 15th floor of a hotel, he gets much more than he bargained for.

BiggsTrek’s summary below is somewhat modest. An excellent machinima adaptation of Lovecraft’s “The Haunter of the Dark,” BiggsTrek’s film won this year’s Grand Prize at the 2011 Machinima Expo as well as the Audience Award. They are well-earned honors. There is not a single element that stands out that makes this film work. There rarely is with good films. It is the fusion of many elements. It is based on the foundation of a very good script adaptation joined by fantastic camera work, fine editing, extraordinary music and sound and, finally, outstanding voice acting led by Richard Grove. When there are so many strengths, it is not difficult to understand why I watched transfixed by the unfolding story. I do not state this lightly or with the intent of hollow praise. Unlike many, I am not a loyal reader of H.P. Lovecraft. Yet, this machinima tale had me glued to the end. That is a testament to how well BiggsTrek brought the tale “The Haunter of the Dark” to our screens.
