A busy week for the Sci Fi Channel as they announced their entry into the online broadband content battle.

Now, I am assuming that since the announcement was made during a special presentation to advertisers the new online channel will be advertiser supported and not fee based. In other words, it appears to be similar to AOL’s In2TV in that it is going to offer, among other things, episodes of selected Sci Fi series and movies. Sci Fi is also giving viewers of their network and visitors to their site a chance to submit their own work for entry into an online film festival.

So, when there isn’t anything on at 3:45 a.m. and you are an insomniac as I am, you will have another outlet to search for something worthy to watch besides “Paid Programming.” I cannot understand the popularity of that show, but it seems to be popping up everywhere.
